Brief Description
The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for the transcription of delegated assessment reports, preparation of assessment documents and liaising with the Documentation Administrator to ensure the proper handling and distribution of all paper documentation that is processed in the office. Key responsibilities include timely attention to transcription tapes received, documents received, processing and preparation of these documents for all required recipients. Acting as a resource to staff and consultants for processing of documents is key to this position

Job Duties
  • Transcription of assessment reports as delegated including paper assessments.
  • Research and development into best practices regarding transcription services.
  • Preparation of document lists for upcoming assessments and providing lists to assessors as requested.
  • Preparation of medical briefs for key assessors and development of best practices of this task.
  • Assisting Documentation Administrator with documentation review; acting as a resource regarding preparation of assessor packages.
  • Handle daily issues/concerns from both internal and external clients
  • Co-ordination and distribution of medical documentation packages for assessors to mail administrators for photocopying and mailing
  • Upkeep of records regarding document listings
  • Processing information requests from consultants and assessors via email or phone
  • Scanning documents for emailing to consultants and doctors as required
  • Assist with recruitment, orientation and training of mail administrators
  • Assist with photocopying and faxing a variety of documents
  • Assist with filing as required
  • Assist with organizing and sending outgoing mail and courier
  • Liaise with doctors’ offices and adjusters
  • Daily activities tracking and submission to supervisor
  • Participation in administration meetings
  • Other duties as required

Special Skills

  • Excellent transcription and typing skills
  • Knowledge of industry documentation
  • Knowledge of MS Operating systems, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer etc.
  • 3-5 years related or relevant experience
  • Professional attire, conduct and manner
